Giovani dos Santos is well aware he needs to take the next step in his football career if he is to make something of himself.
The talented Mexico international has struggled in the Premier League since joining Tottenham from Barcelona in 2008, finding himself on loan at Ipswich Town and Turkish club Galatasaray, but has vowed to make football his number one focus after impressing for El Tri at the World Cup.
"I think I have a long way to go in my career and I think I need to improve every day, every game, and give these fans all my best," he said.
"Yes, the World Cup gave me a lot of confidence and I've taken that into pre-season. Now the manager is giving me the opportunity to show him what I can do in the team.
"And I am working hard to play more minutes and games. I am dedicated and I think this year can be a big year for me, I am very focused this year to do big things with the team.
"My personal ambition for this season is to play more and show the Premier League what I can do."
