Borussia Dortmund would be willing to re-sign Mario Gotze if the opportunity arose.
The 23-year-old midfielder left Dortmund to join German rivals Bayern Munich for €37million in the summer of 2013 but has failed to vindicate his price tag since moving to the Allianz Arena.
Gotze has recently been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool to reunite with former Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp but the Westfalenstadion club's chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke has placed some doubt on that transpiring by opening the door to a sensational return to BVB.
"He came up through the youth teams and he is highly regarded - also by me personally," Watzke told Sky Deutschland.
"If he came on the market and we received a signal that he was interested to come back to us, we'd discuss it."
