Donovan: New LA Galaxy list most balanced I've seen

LA Galaxy captain Landon Donovan feels the 2011 playing roster is perhaps the most balanced he has seen in MLS. The USA international spoke highly of the group of players he has around him just two days into the Galaxy's pre-season training camp, highlighting the depth of the squad Bruce Arena has assembled.

"It's the best balance I've ever seen, certainly on this team and maybe in any team I've seen in MLS from 1 to 25," Donovan said. "We're going to have a lot of players that aren't playing every week that would start on most teams.

"And we're going to have a lot of guys that won't make the (game-day roster of) 18 that would start on certain teams, and that makes us competitive and that makes us very good."

And the thing that pleased Donovan the most was the progress made by the up-and-coming stars of the club.

"I think the young guys we have here are a lot further along than the young guys we had last year, and from last year's team only (Michael Stephens) ended up making the team," Donovan added.

"This team is going to be more competitive than last year, we're going to be deeper than last year, and overall in every position we have more talent and more depth and we need that because we have a lot of games, but we have a very good team."
