Donovan indicates LA Galaxy time coming to an end

Landon Donovan has suggested that the 2012 MLS Cup final may be his last match for LA Galaxy.

The 30-year old USA national team star has recently dropped the hint that retirement could be an option soon and went even further by stating that the December 1 meeting with Houston Dynamo could quite possibly be his final match, at least at MLS level.

"I'm going to take as much time as I need and decide if and when I'm ready to come back," he said.

"I can't put a time frame on that. If it takes two weeks and I'm ready to go again or two months or a year or two years.

"Or never. I don't know.

"I'm aware of what I'm feeling, what I'm going through. And if I wake up one day and I say 'you know what? I'm going to come back and play,' then I'll be here within an hour.

"If that doesn't happen, if I wake up and I say 'you know what? That's enough,' then I'll let the people know who need to know and I'll get on with my life."

Donovan, who has also had stints with Bayer Leverkusen, San Jose Earthquakes, Bayern Munich and Everton, has made almost 200 appearances for the Galaxy (for a MLS total of 313) including the successful MLS Cups in 2005 and 2011. He has also made 144 appearances for the US team.
