Donovan extremely proud to be part of USA's Gold Cup conquest

Landon Donovan was proud and honoured to help to help the USA national team take out the 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup.

The LA Galaxy star returned to the US setup to win the Golden Ball award, as Player of the Tournament, as well as the Golden Boot - shared with teammate Chris Wondolowski and Panama's Gabriel Torres - as Juergen Klinsmann's side beat Panama 1-0 in the final on Sunday.

Donovan was over the moon to have contributed so positively to the US cause as they now prepare for the remainder of their 2014 World Cup qualifiers.

"I've enjoyed it tremendously. As far as just having fun, it's up there. I'm really proud to be a part of what we've been through," said Donovan.

"As I get older the things that matter to me are winning and when you look around and see kids holding the trophy and experiencing something for the first time it makes me really happy.

"This is not the end. This is just the end of the tournament but hopefully this is just the beginning for a lot of us and we want to be part of the bigger picture."
