Donovan deserved MVP - LA Galaxy's Beckham

David Beckham insists his LA Galaxy teammate Landon Donovan deserved the MLS Cup MVP award on Sunday.

The USA international scored the only goal as the Galaxy defeated Houston Dynamo 1-0 at The Home Depot Center and Beckham was full of praise for the 29-year old who received his second best afield prize in the MLS' decider after his 2003 performance for San Jose Earthquakes.

"It was great that Landon was the MVP tonight. He deserved to score that goal," Beckham said.

"It wouldn't have mattered who scored it, but he scored it and it won us the match.

"We're lucky to have a player like him; we're lucky to have to players we got on our team because every one of them were exceptional this year."
