Cristiano Doni has signed a new deal with Atalanta through to 2009.

"We hope that Cristiano will continue to play for a long time yet. It would mean he is in good shape and Atalanta need a player like him," Atalanta president Ivan Ruggeri said yesterday.

Doni added: "Obviously I am satisfied with the deal. Now to celebrate he can put in one of his wonderful performances this weekend."
