Doni reveals heart attack while with Liverpool

Former Liverpool goalkeeper Alexandre Doni admits he suffered a heart attack last year.

The 33-year-old Brazilian played his last match for the Kop in May 2012 and has not featured in any squad since.

He moved to Brazilian side Botofogo on deadline day and then admitted: "I almost ended up on the other side.

"I had a heart attack for about 25 seconds."

Doni claimed the incident occurred while he was having medical tests.

He added: "I always had an irregular heartbeat and during some tests in Liverpool suffered a cardiac arrest.

"I've been to one of the best doctors in Europe.

"He asked me to stop for a few months. I have to stay put until April."

Liverpool refused to comment on the claims, reports The Sun.
