Jannik Vestergaard has joined Southampton from Borussia Monchengladbach in a deal that involves a £18 million fee.

Sky Sports reported the player went through his medical examinations on Thursday. The Saints have now officially announced the move.

Vestergaard was a part of the Danish squad at the World Cup.

The 6ft 6 inch central defender was also wanted by the likes of West Ham United.

The 25 year old completed 32 appearances for Monchengladbach last season, scoring three goals and only picking up five yellow cards.
