DONE DEAL: Marseille winger Thauvin completes Newcastle move

Florian Thauvin has completed his transfer to Newcastle United.

The 22-year-old French winger has joined the Magpies from Marseille on a five-year deal for a reported fee of £13million and sees Remy Cabella head to the Stade Velodrome on a season-long loan with the option to buy.

Thauvin arrives in the north east having spent his entire career thus far in his homeland of France playing for such clubs as Grenoble, Bastia, Lille and Marseille.

The former France U21 international becomes Newcastle's fifth summer signing, joining Georginio Wijnaldum, Aleksandar Mitrovic, Chancel Mbemba and Ivan Toney.

"I am delighted to be a Newcastle United player," Thauvin told nufc.co.uk. "I have come from France to a really big club and am very happy to be here.

"It is a big honour to know that Newcastle have been after me for such a long time and that they wanted me that much. They have put their trust in me and I am looking forward to playing for the team."
