Brighton have signed Wigan Athletic defender Dan Burn.

The Sun says Brighton have signed giant defender Burn from Wigan for £4million - and will send him back to the Championship club on loan.

Seagulls chief Chris Hughton agreed the unusual deal for Burn, 26, who will return to Latics to play until January and possibly for the rest of the campaign.

Burn has been a hit for Wigan but they had to sell as he was in the last year of his contract with them.

The money will give Paul Cook extra funds for new players in the loan market while keeping Burn in his team in the meantime.

Burn joined Wigan from following in July 2016, penning a three-year deal.
