Birmingham have secured Southampton forward Sam Gallagher on a season-long loan deal.

The 21-year old, who scored 12 goals in 47 appearances for Blackburn last season, joins City just hours after Arsenal duo Carl Jenkinson and Cohen Bramall completed similar deals.

The England U20 forward was also a target of Derby and Aston Villa, and Blues boss Harry Redknapp was pleased with the signing.

"Delighted," said Redknapp. "I think he's a good centre-forward. He's got a great attitude and scores goals.

"Believe me, there were a lot of clubs who wanted him. I think he's going to be great for us."
