Doncaster Rovers are refusing to comment on news that manager Sean O'Driscoll has held talks with Burnley.

The 52-year-old has emerged as the favourite to take over at Turf Moor following the controversial defection of Owen Coyle to rivals Bolton last week.

Rovers have neither confirmed nor denied giving the Premier League side permission to approach O'Driscoll.

O'Driscoll is reported to be one of several names on a Burnley shortlist that includes former Sheffield Wednesday boss Brian Laws - a former Clarets player - Leeds boss Simon Grayson and Huddersfield counterpart Lee Clark.

O'Driscoll replaced Dave Penney as Doncaster manager in September 2006 after six years in charge of Bournemouth, where he spent the majority of his playing career.

He signed a new three-year deal at the Keepmoat Stadium last summer after leading Rovers into English football's second tier for the first time in 50 years in 2008.
