Doncaster striker Sharp grateful for Ipswich fans support

Billy Sharp's two-day old son passed away last Saturday, and the striker was on target as Donny beat Town 3-2, and the Ipswich faithful stood to applaud his goal.

Sharp told the Green 'Un: "I had a lump in my throat when the Ipswich fans did that for me, they didn't have to do that to an opposing player and I would like to thank them all for showing that respect for me.

"There was interest in the summer and both clubs spoke. It is a great club but it just wasn't the right club for me at that point. But it wasn't because of this club (Ipswich). It is a great club and it would be a fantastic one to play for."

He added: "I am a Doncaster Rovers player and like I have said before, whatever shirt I put on I will always do my best.

"I have a year and a half left on my contract here and I will continue to give 110% for this club until someone tells me otherwise."
