Doncaster star LuaLua: Qatar the most horrible period of my life

Doncaster Rovers star Lomana Lualua admits his time in Qatar was a horror show.

LuaLa, 31, takes on Everton today desperate to repay boss Ian Holloway for rescuing him.

He said: "I want to do well for Ian. He reminds me of Harry Redknapp, only more crazy. He gives players confidence."

LuaLua said: "When I was playing in Qatar it was the most horrible period of my life. I struggled to adapt to the lifestyle and their attitude to matches.

"They used to train in 90 degrees, which was affecting my health, and games were played in huge stadiums with no fans.

"When I told my club I was unhappy and wanted to leave, they forced me to train with five-year-olds. They took away my passport and refused to give it back so I could not escape."
