Mills had two successful loan spells at the Keepmoat Stadium last season and O'Driscoll wants to bring the 21-year-old back to Rovers.

"Mark Hughes has come in and rightly so wants to assess the whole of his squad and Matt is a contracted player with Manchester City so he's training with them in," said O'Driscoll.

"We've had dialogue (with City) but it's just a shame that the people we had dialogue with have left the club - I think everyone is being sensibly patient at the moment."
