Doncaster Rovers boss Dean Saunders admits he faces a battle to sign released Blackburn Rovers attacker El Hadji Diouf.
Saunders is still hoping a deal can be concluded to bring Diouf to Yorkshire but he knows Rovers face competition for the free agent's signature.
"I'm hopeful that might happen," Saunders told reporters when asked if Diouf could arrive at Doncaster.
"When it appeared on Sky I thought some clubs might come out of the woodwork and that's what's happened.
"If he doesn't sign for us you have to respect his decision but I did speak to him."
