"The two matches between Celtic and Milan in the Champions League last season were very close, very well balanced," said Donati, "and Milan just managed to get the victory by a goal. It is clear that Celtic play at the same level as Milan and that was very appealing to me.
"I had a number of other offers, but my main interest was in returning to Milan. When that didn't happen, I was delighted to accept Celtic's offer. I want to play in a team that wins championships and plays in the Champions League and Celtic have all that.
"But, as much as anything, I am looking forward to being in one place and settled for the next four years. In the past three years, I've played in a number of different places and I don't think it has been a help to me. It will make a difference to know that I will have stability.
"There have been disappointments, but not enough to damage my confidence. I believe results come from hard work and I don't have any problem with self-doubt. I believe in myself. If I didn't, I wouldn't have taken this challenge. But Celtic have also shown faith in me and that is very encouraging.
"Milan bought me from Atalanta when I was 19 and, for the past three years, I've played at other clubs at a level that was okay, but I want to play at a higher level, in important games. Every game is important to Celtic because they are involved in winning honours."
