Donadoni insists new Parma takeover has brought fresh enthusiasm

Parma coach Roberto Donadoni insists there's fresh optimism around the club after their latest takeover.

Giampiero Manenti has been named new president.

"We'll only have certainties when we reach the deadlines [for payments, February 16 to pay player wages]," Donadoni said.

"There is a bit more optimism though, because when you know there are new owners it gives you a confidence boost.

"However, I wish you [the media] would stop misrepresenting the new owners until something is confirmed or denied.

"The negative discourse that I hear is deeply displeasing for me. We're all fighters, but in the meantime we have to give people credit.

"After that we can make judgements and comments. I find this desire to find negative things almost morbid, you can't sum up the life of a person with two or three incidents.

"I don't think many people have come forward to buy Parma, it's easy to talk with someone else's money.

"It gets annoying having to repeat myself, what has been said in recent days remains true, so for the moment our mood is the same.

"We [coaching staff and players] have already met with the new owners, now we have to focus all our attention on tomorrow's game which isn't just a cup final for us, it's like the World Cup final, so lets' focus on that."
