Donachie doubts Newcastle will offer Prior terms

Newcastle United reserves coach Willie Donachie has played down talk of offering terms to Bognor Regis striker Jason Prior.

Prior scored for the United second string in their 3-1 win over Wigan Athletic Reserves.

However, despite remaining on trial, Donachie told the Evening Chronicle: "I don't know if he is going to be good enough for Newcastle.

"There were a lot of scouts there, and hopefully somebody will see he has to be better than the level he is playing at.

"He is a great lad, a lovely person with a fantastic attitude and he scores goals."

Scouts from Cardiff City, Hibernian and Norwich City were all in attendance yesterday.

Donachie added: "It has been a great experience for him and who knows?

"It will be up to the manager to decide how far we take it.

"It was a fantastic finish and he has shown in training he can score goals."
