France coach Raymond Domenech has accused Bolton Wanderers of claiming Nicolas Anelka's injury was worse than it actually was.

Domenech played Anelka in Friday's 2-2 draw with Morocco, ignoring Bolton concerns over the striker's nagging hamstring.

"He [Anelka] has played because of our doctor's talent," Domenech told L'Equipe. "I understand the clubs. They want to protect a player who has not appeared for them. A little doubt remains.

"So they anticipate and try to make [me] think that their injury is bigger to have them back.

"If we had a little doubt during the last training sessions, I would not have taken any risk. I am not crazy. I do not manage France to prepare the players to be ready to return to their clubs.

"Nobody [has] ever asked me not to play a player because he has an important game to play afterwards."
