Dodgy tooth may wreck Wembley hopes for Man Utd captain Rooney

Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney is struggling to make the EFL Cup final due to tooth surgery.

The Sun says he is a doubt for Manchester United's EFL Cup final clash with Southampton after a root canal operation.

The Old Trafford skipper had surgery yesterday and boss Jose Mourinho admits he does not know if he can play.

Rooney, 31, has been a bit-part player this season with in-form Zlatan Ibrahimovic leading the line.

Asked is his captain would play any part at Wembley, Mourinho said: “I don't know about Rooney for Sunday."
