The return of captain Travis Dodd to the line-up will have Adelaide United firing from kick-off according to goalkeeper Eugene Galekovic.
Dodd has yet to make a start this season after coming back from injury but is set to be part of the starting eleven for tonight’s clash with Melbourne Heart after the last few weeks coming off the bench.
The Reds have begun poorly in each of their past three matches but Galekovic feels that with Dodd’s return, things will pick up from the opening whistle.
“I think that’s one thing we’ve got to work on, going from the start,” Galekovic said.
“Travis (Dodd) is back in the team, so that will give us that extra bit of firepower up front and when we score first we tend to play well and our confidence grows, so that’s what we’ll be trying to aim for, to get the first goal and go on from there.”
But apart from starting well, the Reds also need to shore up their back third says Galekovic.
“We’ve got to tighten up, we’ve practised that a little bit during the week and hopefully that improves tomorrow,” Galekovic said of the defensive part of United’s game.
“I think we’ve just got to get tighter. Keep a high line and if we’re tighter they won’t get in behind us, so we’ve just got to improve and hopefully it starts this week.”
Adelaide take on the Heart at Melbourne’s AAMI Park tonight – kick-off is at 8:00pm.
