Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu fumbled a deal for Atletico Madrid attacker Saul Niguez over the summer, it has been revealed.
It's claimed Bartomeu was willing to match the midfielder's €80m buyout clause - only to learn he had signed a new deal during the U21 Euros with an improved option of €150m.
Pundit Jose Ramon de la Morena, on El Transistor, revealed Bartomeu was taken aback by the news - and then tried for Antoine Griezmann.
Bartomeu agreed to meet the Atleti star's €100m buyout clause, only to discover that Griezmann had also agreed to a new deal and to raise his escape option to €200m.
Bartomeu then offered €140m, but Atletico had no interest in losing their French star.
