Djourou: Arsenal players will prove ourselves winners today

Arsenal defender Johan Djourou is ready to prove himself a winner today in the Carling Cup final against Birmingham City.

Djourou knows the majority of the squad have yet to taste success in an Arsenal shirt, but he wants that to change on Sunday.

"To the players I think it would mean a lot because obviously it's going to be the first time for some of the players to become winners," the Swiss defender told arsenal.com.

"I think that it's going to be a good thing for our mentality because we don't know how to win. That's the thing because people are questioning us by saying we haven't won a trophy for a long time.

"But by becoming winners we will become more confident and show that we can achieve a lot of things because we have a lot going forward as well.

"It's not just the Carling Cup but that's the first thing that we have. I think if we achieve something there we are just going to play with no fear and go forward for the rest of the trophies we're playing for."
