Johan Djourou is angry over the way Arsenal's defence has been questioned this season.
The Swiss defender was speaking before yesterday's thumping at Stoke City.
"I have been here for a long time and even when I wasn't playing, the defence was always questioned," he said. "It is not always fair. We can always defend better as a team - we defend as a team so it is about us all together.
"If you look at our record this year, apart from lately we haven't conceded many goals. Our record wasn't that bad, we had a lot of clean sheets and the defence was doing well.
"It is hard because every time we concede a goal people are going to blame the defence but people don't see what happened before. You have to see the bigger picture.
"We do not play with four against the rest - it is not eleven players against four defenders. That's not how it works. However, we know we can do better but that's the whole team, not just the defence."
