Djite and Porter will get us out of this rut - Gold Coast's Caravella

New signing Bruce Djite and injured striker Joel Porter will be great inclusions when Gold Coast United next take the pitch in the A-League.

Preposterously, United have their second bye of the season in round 5 after having round 3 off, but midfielder Zenon Caravella feels it is a good time for the team to sort their strike problems out after losing star man Shane Smeltz to Genclerbirligi and producing a toothless performance against Melbourne Victory yesterday.

''Bruce arrives from Turkey later this week and will be a big asset to us with his experience and ability to shield the ball, and bring other players into the action,'' Caravella told the Gold Coast Bulletin.

''We didn't really have anybody to do that against Melbourne and things were breaking down in the final third far too easily.

''We also badly missed Joel Porter with his know-how and the way he holds the ball and frustrates defenders.

''The sooner he gets over his hamstring injury the better.

"I am sure he will be ready for the match in Perth.''

Former Adelaide United forward Djtie will join from the club Smeltz is likely to sign with, Genclerbirligi, this week whilst Porter will return from a hamstring injury for the round 6 clash with league leaders Perth Glory at nib Stadium.
