Portugal stopper Eduardo has turned down the chance to join Arsenal after the Gunners club took too long to make a move. According to the News of the World, boss Arsene Wenger had identified Eduardo as his number one transfer target.
However, Eduardo, who conceded just one goal at World Cup 2010, felt Genoa made their interest more evident and joined the Italian side in a deal reported to be around £4 million.
The player's agent Joe Donkor confirmed: "It is flattering to know of Arsenal's interest, but Genoa made it plain they really, really wanted Eduardo and he is delighted to have signed for them."
