Everton boss Roberto Martinez insists that veteran defender Sylvain Distin will be back in his line-up next weekend.
The 36-year old French centre-back has not played since the Capital One Cup loss to Swansea City on September 23 but Martinez has assured fans that he will be a chance to make the team against Aston Villa when the Premier League returns from the international break on October 18.
"Sylvain needed a bit of a rest, obviously he played a lot of football, in the preseason too. He is someone I needed to manage his amount of games, and his input," said Martinez.
"He is fully fit, has trained really well and is now making sure we see him fighting for his place in the team. In Sylvain's case in the last couple of weeks, he needed to refresh and work on certain aspects and now he is back and ready to fight for his place on the team."
