Sylvain Distin admits he was disappointed with Portsmouth's work in the summer market.
The French defender said: "I always compare every new season with the last one and, I am not going to lie, I had hoped more players would come in like they did last year.
"But it is not like that and I would still like to see a few more new faces here because we've lost a few important players and have more games to play with the UEFA Cup as well.
"The object is always to improve year by year but other clubs have improved their squads and so it is going to be very tough for us to do better.
"I still think we can deal with it because the players we do have are still good quality.
"If they are like me they will enjoy the extra pressure of people expecting us to do well again.
"That expectation brings pleasure rather than pressure. I want to play all the games, I want to play in Europe again, like I did with Paris and City, and I want to win more trophies because that is what football is all about."
