Distin, now into his fifth season at Goodison Park had mixed feelings about the result.
"There are really mixed feelings. It does feel like a defeat because we conceded in the last minute and we conceded three set-pieces," he said.
"But at the same time we had five one-v-ones against the goalkeeper (Simon Mignolet) who made some amazing saves.
"I think we limited them to two shots from open play which, considering the strikers they have, is pretty good.
"It feels like a loss but the atmosphere in the dressing room was not too down as it was a good game."
