Diouf happy to be playing at Rangers, one of the biggest clubs in Europe

El-Hadji Diouf says he is delighted to be plying his trade with Glasgow giants Rangers.

The 30-year old is on a short-term deal from Blackburn Rovers and he admits that the lure of playing with a big club was the overriding factor for him moving to Ibrox for the remainder of the season.

Ahead of tonight's Europa League Round of 16 clash with Dutch outfit PSV Eindhoven, Diouf said that this was the type of contest that appealed to him and hopes he can do the Rangers fans and coaching staff proud with a strong performance.

"I wanted to play in Europe and this is one of the biggest teams in Europe. When you come into the training ground, you feel what a big club it is," he told the Scottish Sun.

"The first thing you can do when you change clubs is to try and make the supporters happy.

"You make your fans happy and you make your manager happy."

As for trying to keep people happy, Diouf spoke of just one manager who he always strived to impress - former Rovers boss Sam Allardyce.

"He is the one manager I've always wanted to keep happy. He talks to everyone," he added.

"A lot of managers I know, if they don't need you, they won't talk to you but Sam wasn't like that.

"He treated me very well and I knew how to work with him. I knew what he wanted from me as a player and I know when he's p****d off he's a different man.

"He's cool. He never gives you a headache and he knows only one thing - he knows only winning.

"I want to be a boss. I've so much experience at international level and in the Premier League. Why not give that back to young boys?"
