Diouf (again) attacks Liverpool icons Gerrard, Carragher amid Mane discussion

Ex-Liverpool striker El Hadji Diouf says Sadio Mane will succeed at Anfield - thanks to the absence of club icons Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher.

Diouf, who also had stints at Bolton, Sunderland and Blackburn in the top flight, insists Mane will dazzle at Liverpool - especially now Gerrard and Carragher aren't on the scene.

“Mane has to be worried about nothing," Diouf told BBC Sport.

"Today you don't have a bad mentality at Liverpool like Steven Gerrard or Jamie Carragher.

"You don't have a bad mentality any more, people to like only themselves.

“Right now they have a good coach with a good mentality. Sadio stayed at Southampton for two years before he signed for Liverpool.

"He's not like me, when I came to Liverpool I came to work in my car to work and I came from outside England.

"He's been in England for two years now so for him it will be more easy."
