Manchester United signing Diogo Dalot insists any senior Portugal call will be achieved on merit.

Dalot left Porto earlier this month to sign for United.

However, the fullback insists moving to United does not give him an advantage when it comes to national team selection.

He said, "I believe it will not be for the club that I represent, but for my value and for my work, it is increasingly demonstrated that the individual work counts for the calls, if I work hard I can represent the team, it's a dream of mine."

On his departure, Dalot continued: "It's football stuff, I did not want to go that far, everything I had to say I had the opportunity to express it, to express my feelings for my change and that's the most important thing."
