Eric Dier has admitted Tottenham's players were still suffering the after effects of two successive draws, against West Brom and Chelsea, which effectively cost them challenging for the Premier League title.
Then, at the weekend they went down to a 2-1 defeat to Southampton at White Hart Lane.
"It's been a tough couple of weeks with the draws against West Brom and Chelsea," he told Spurs TV.
"That hurt us mentally and coming into this game [against Southampton] we were on quite a low to be honest.
"We tried to pick ourselves up but we haven't done as well as we've been doing all season so everyone's disappointed."
