Eric Dier admits he sees midfield as his future at Tottenham.

Dier also says his own position protecting the defence will be increasingly important for club and country.

He said: “The position I'm playing in is gaining more importance, with the full-backs having to push on in modern football.

“But I have a long way to go to be good in it and I don't feel I'm at the level I was at last year.

“Hopefully I can get to that level quickly."
