Tottenham Hotspur defender-turned-midfielder Eric Dier has praised manager Mauricio Pochettino for giving English youngsters a chance to shine.

Pochettino is quickly becoming known as a manager who has unwavering faith in young players and the Argentine has had no problems in handing untried English talent the opportunity to shine in the first team at White Hart Lane.

Dier is one of the English players who has managed to flourish under Pochettino and the recent England debutant has gone on to praise the 'fearless' Argentine for his belief in youngsters.

On his England debut against Spain and subsequent first start against France over the international weekend, Dier said: "Our club manager is giving young English players a chance and if you take it then I guess that's where you can end up.

"I think that's what all us young Spurs boys have been doing. I think maybe he just doesn't have the fear that other managers have in giving people a chance, you know?

"I think if we then didn't take our chance, then we probably wouldn't be where we are now. He has no fear in giving you a chance, but then it is obviously up to the player to take it."
