Diego Lopez says Villarreal confident going into Real Madrid test

Villarreal goalkeeper Diego Lopez says they go to Real Madrid in high spirits.

Madrid have recorded 16 successive home victories in all competitions, while Villarreal have never won at the Bernabeu - losing eight of their 11 league visits - and were thumped 6-2 in last season's corresponding fixture.

"If it can be done you can do it. In football anything is possible, although it's going to be very difficult," he said.

"After the cup we are full of confidence, but we're tired as well. The team made a great effort and we've not had many days to prepare for the game.

"Everything will depend on if we can play our game. If we are at our best and very focused we will have our chances, but you also need to recognise that it's going to be very difficult because Real Madrid are fighting to finish the season as champions."

Speaking about last season's mauling at the Bernabeu, Lopez added in AS: "We've changed a lot.

"Our current level is very good and this makes us optimistic. I think Madrid know that we are a difficult opponent and will have to work hard if they want to beat us.

"They are a great team and we know what they are capable of, but that doesn't mean we can't get the win."
