Diego Costa hopes new Chelsea teammate Fernando Torres chooses to stay.
Costa is preparing to fight Torres for a starting role, even though Chelsea have been trying to offload his Spain team-mate.
Inter Milan and Torres's former club Atletico Madrid both expressed an interest but his £175,000-a-week salary has proved a major obstacle.
Costa said: "It's always good to have competition. The important thing for a big club is having great players. Torres is a great player, I know I will have to fight hard to be among the team but I like that. So I think it will be a clean and healthy competition."
