Lamine Diatta made his competitive debut for Newcastle United in last night's 2-2 draw with Bolton reserves.

The Senegal captain was given 90 minutes in a sure sign he will be included in Kevin Keegan's squad for this weekend's big match against Birmingham City.

Diatta played at centre-half alongside Peter Ramage, who was playing his first game since recovering from a knee injury.
