Abou Diaby has made it vehemently clear that he is not Arsenal's replacement for Alex Song.
The Frenchman has stepped into the defensive midfield role vacated by Song, who departed for Barcelona recently, but insists that he is not the same player as the Cameroonian.
Diaby, who was Arsenal's Man of the Match in Sunday's 2-0 win at Liverpool, sees himself more as a Yaya Toure-type as he is looking to get forward as much as possible while still covering the Gunners defence.
"In our teams (Arsenal and Manchester City), Yaya Toure and me have very similar roles," he said.
"I am not like Alex Song. We have many players who can take his place like Francis Coquelin or Mikel Arteta, who likes to play deep. I want to get forward - that's me.
"I have defensive duties as well so I need to have a good shape defensively and, as soon as we get the ball, go forward."
