West Ham striker Davide di Michele sees little future at parent club Torino.
"The divorce with Torino was unavoidable," Di Michele told Guerin Sportivo. "I had a few requests but time was passing and West Ham arrived and I accepted them with a lot of pleasure.
"I thought of staying with Granata for another year and then I would have considered with interest proposals from Spain or England. It arrived sooner than expected."
Di Michele scored twice in the 3-1 victory over Newcastle earlier this season but has since struggled to hold down a regular place in the team.
The Hammers have also slipped down the table in recent weeks but Di Michele is confident results will pick up.
He said: "We started positively and despite the change of coach I've scored a double against Newcastle.
"We have had a fall but we had a difficult schedule. Now we are trying to obtain a better position."
