Di Matteo wants to see Chelsea against English opponents

After a pre-season of facing Asian opposition in Malaysia and Thailand Chelsea assistant manager Roberto Di Matteo now wants the Blues to prove themselves against English opposition. Chelsea will face either Aston Villa or Blackburn in the Premier League Asia Trophy after they face local side Kitchee in their opening game of the competition.

"It's been good. We are progressing slowly in terms of physical condition and playing as well," Di Matteo told Sky Sports News.

"It's been a bit difficult at the beginning with jet-lag, the humidity and heat.

"We have played two games in Asia, one in Kuala Lumpur, one in Bangkok and it will be good to measure ourselves and see what stage we are at against some English teams."
