Di Matteo shrugs off influence on Chelsea form reversal

Chelsea caretaker boss Roberto di Matteo shrugged off his influence over their turnaround since Andre Villas-Boas' dismissal.

Chelsea thrashed FA Cup opponents Leicester City 5-2 yesterday.

Di Matteo said: "It was a wonderful team performance which is reflected in the scoreline. We just wanted to get to the next round.

"I think that every game we have won so far has given individually the players, and the team as a whole, a little more confidence and every win just confirms and cements it."

But despite the turnaround in form which has seen the Blues progress into the quarter-finals of the Champions League and reach the FA Cup semi-final, the 41-year-old refused to accept it was his influence that has made the difference.

"I wouldn't want to take any credit," he said.

"It is the boys' belief and work-rate they put in on a daily basis - I always believe we have quality in the team to score at least one goal so as long as defensively we can keep it tight and solid we will always have a chance."
