Di Matteo left West Brom's Moore out of squad for form reasons

Roberto Di Matteo has explained his reasons for leaving Luke Moore out of West Bromwich Albion's 25-man Premier League squad, reports the Birmingham Mail. The striker has failed to produce his best for the Baggies during his two-and-a-half year spell at the club, scoring just five goals - three of those coming against Peterborough last season.

He made more than 50 appearances.

The Italian said: "The fact we signed Fortuné and I have Miller, Odemwingie, Bednar, Wood and Cox means I have plenty of choices up there.

"I've spoken to Luke about it.

"Obviously he wasn't full of joy about it but I have to make decisions - and that's my decision for the 25-man squad to keep it balanced.

"At the end of the day I have to look at performances and what he brings to the team.

"Towards the end of the season he wasn't involved as much and then I had to make a decision this season.

"The fact he can't play for us (in the League) until January means it would be better for him if he went out on loan and plays football. We've had some enquiries but nothing concrete."
