Chelsea boss Roberto di Matteo says Frank Lampard remains a key part of their plans.

Senior midfielder Lampard admitted his relationship with Andre Villa-Boas had not been good. In contrast, Di Matteo believes Chelsea are 'blessed' to have the veteran star.

Di Matteo said: "In the past we've seen quite a few players playing for longer periods than previous decades due to fact they look after themselves privately and train well.

"Lampard's a top professional. This club has been blessed to have player like him for 10 years and to have him now. He is unique. He's a team player as well."
