Chelsea boss Roberto di Matteo is backing their bid for Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos.

The Daily Star says Ramos's unhappiness at the Bernabeu has alerted Chelsea boss Di Matteo, who could move for the former Seville star in January.

And owner Roman Abramovich is ready to part with £40million for Ramos, according to reports in Spain.

The Stamford Bridge side are keen to re-enforce in defence following the sale of Jose Bosingwa in the summer.
