Chelsea interim boss Roberto di Matteo refuses to criticise his struggling captain John Terry after a difficult game in the 4-1 defeat to Liverpool on Tuesday night. Reports suggest the 31-year-old may miss out on a place in Roy Hodgson's squad for this summer's European Championships and Terry, suspended for next week's Champions League final, has only one match left to persuade the new England boss otherwise.

But the Italian has given his full backing to Terry.

"John has been magnificent for us.

"He has been playing all the games, he has been a leader and everything you want in a captain."
