Even victory at Juventus on Tuesday night may not have saved Roberto di Matteo from the Chelsea axe. Di Matteo was sacked by Chelsea after their Champions League defeat in Turin.
The Daily Mail says Rafa Benitez had begun negotiating with Chelsea BEFORE the Juve game.
Benitez, who guided Liverpool to Champions League glory in 2005 and a second European Cup final two years later, agreed to take the job after 72 hours of negotiations.
