Di Matteo: Chelsea will benefit from Terry quitting England

Chelsea boss Roberto di Matteo is happy John Terry has quit England.

Di Matteo believes that decision could prolong Terry's club career.

"During international week, we still train," explained Di Matteo. "The small group that remains here joins up with the youth team, so we get a good look at all our players.

"Normally, it's more youth team players than senior players - it's normally only three senior players.

"For the youth players, it will be great to have John Terry around and to play in training with him. It also probably gives John a good chance to prolong his club career by another year or two if he is not involved internationally.

"It certainly helps when you can have a little break in a normal week, especially with the schedule we have. I also question how worthwhile these friendly games all over the world are.

"You probably have a different outlook as a player. But certainly a midweek game in November with a packed schedule, I'm not sure how much it will benefit them because they will be travelling and going between two time zones."
